2017年圣周: 圣周五
Our Good Friday began in the quiet of our church, stripped and bare.
Then we prayed the Stations of the Cross. We are fortunate that we have a seminary campus to use to have a real , Via Crucis, outdoors, and several seminarians to hold up an image of each station.
I've posted audio of the chanting from Chinese Stations before, either because I like how something familiar (like Stabat Mater) sounds in Chinese translation, or I want share the unique sounds in China of this devotion. Both fascinate me endlessly.
At the end of each station, before we moved on to the next, comes this next video. First the priest sings the words,天主为尔所受之苦难，矜怜我等 Tiānzhǔ wèi ěr suǒ shòu zhī kǔnàn, jin lián wǒ děng, then the people respond with the same words. But then the priest chants the same words again, and the people respond again in the same manner.
Following Stations of the Cross was the Good Friday service.
The hymn we always sing for Adoration of the Cross is so haunting. It stays with me, even when I should be thinking about Alleluia songs.
