Good Friday, sights and sounds
In these last nine (!) Holy Weeks, we have been to several Good Friday observances in Shenzhen and Beijing. I have to say that what we do at the Seminary is my favorite, maybe even more than our little parish in Nantou, which I still sometimes miss on any other Sunday.
Our 苦路 Kǔ lù is a real Via Crucis, with our exiting the building and walking all around the small campus to follow the fourteen Stations of the Cross.
More after the jump
Somehow the kids and I always end up in the very rear of the crowd.
We followed along, with pictures and pinyin.
I am haunted by our Stations of the Cross chant.

During the Good Friday Service we also venerated the cross, singing another song that stays with me, even after Triduum.
Good Friday isn't a holiday to enjoy, and yet, I have really gotten so much more out of observing it in China than I ever thought I would.
