Mercy

It's hard, but looking back at the last week and a half, one word that comes to mind for me is "Mercy."

Randy's father passed away quite suddenly after a brief illness. It was a Mercy that we were still in the US when this happened. It was a Mercy that we were already in Pittsburgh when his father was moved to a hospital there from one close to their hometown. Randy was able to meet his sister-in-law halfway to bring his mother to the hospital. It was a Mercy the hotel where we were staying had plenty of vacancies, so more members of the family could come and keep vigil. There are many other ways we are privately counting the Mercies shown us and his father during his last days.  And the hospital? It was named Mercy.

This isn't how anyone wanted these weeks to go, and there is still a lot of grief and pain ahead for my husband's family. But for now, we have to take whatever comfort we can in God's Mercy.
