Wild Ice
We have returned to the US for our Christmas trip. It is, as always, a wonderfully and exhausting time.
On our way to my inlaws' house soon after our arrival in Pittsburgh, we stopped at a gas station near their home and saw something crazy. The previous week the area had experienced some strong winter weather, which we had just missed. We did get to see some of the evidence though.
These ice formations on the gas station looked to me like some trick people play with boiling water and extreme Canadian cold and post on youtube. They are not, but merely crazy shapes shapes formed by the cold, wind, and probably the heat coming from inside the convenience store.
As much as I prefer the scientific explanation of these phenomena, I can't help but describe this as the work of an evil (but somewhat defeated or at least stopped) Jack Frost. I mean, look at this and tell me he's not reaching for something or someone.
Or maybe Jack Frost is the good guy, and his icing power saved us from whatever bad guy was attacking.
