Christmas morning

We all know how Christmas mornings work. The kids wake up too early for our sanity to rush to the tree.

This time Brigid wanted to be first. She always wants to be first, but this morning was a little different.

Packages and bows held the mysteries of the morning, but Brigid paid no attention to what was under the tree that wasn't there the night before.

Brigid went straight for....her brother's pile. And found one present in particular, one she picked out, herself, and wrapped, mostly herself.

She could barely contain herself.

Thankfully, his reaction matched her anticipation.

We hope you continue to have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Uncle T...

I have come to believe that the younger you are, the more open you are to hearing the voice of God. I have a similar story: When we got home after an exhausting week of hospice and a memorial service for Sheryl's mom, there was a small wrapped Christmas present on the front porch. I took me a while to read the tag, but I deciphered that the gift was to Tucker, our dog, from the 4 year old girl up the street. It was a squeaky toy from her. Like Brigid, our neighbor's daughter GOT IT. They "heard" that giving was important, as God "gave" His son.

When I spoke with the girl's mom, she had no idea what had transpired over that week, and what it meant for us to see the love of a 4 year old come through so beautifully. The mom said the gift was the girl's idea, and it was important to her that she wrap it and fill out the tag.

Like our neighbor, you guys are doing something right. Keeping our ear inclined to the Holy Spirit's nudges tends to decrease over time.

Uncle T: Thanks, but I can't take credit for giving them what God has. Maybe just staying out of the way :-)
