We're back!

We arrived back in Beijing before 6 am, and raced home to nap before our full weekend plans of Myles' last baseball game, Brigid's last soccer game, and Mass Sunday afternoon. We thought we were successfully overcoming jetlag at record speed, until we got home from church and crashed. All of us. All over the apartment.

I gave up Monday as a loss, though I got through several loads of laundry during my waking hours. So there's that.

Tuesday I believed to have been scrapped, too. I opened my eyes sometime after I was aware Randy got up, and it was still dark. I rolled over.

Upon my next waking, I believed somehow Myles, Brigid, and I had actually slept the entire day away. It was night-dark in my room. My phone said it was just before 11. Squinting at it, I wondered when I switched it from a 24-hour clock to a 12-hour clock.

Randy heard me and called me into the kitchen. He wanted me to see something unbelievable.

He confirmed it was still morning, just after 11 am. It had been getting progressively darker since the sun should have been up, and there was no wind.

We had no functioning internet at home since we returned, and on my mobile I was having problems with google. Was there an eclipse today? Was the pollution really this bad? By noon we knew exactly the cause.

From the eerie, calm dark sprang a violent, torrential rain storm. After an hour, the sky lightened up a little that at least we could recognize it was daytime.

This evening, too, we restored our internet access, so hopefully I can get around to blogging all these past three weeks!

Thousands. Uploading them all to Flickr has been quite the endeavor.

I remember when a special treat was my parents giving me 24 precious exposures to take on a school trip. Now I can take 24 pictures in less than an hour.
