Living in the time of the Jetsons
Last night I was in the same mall where I am STILL waiting for this Starbucks to open (yes, still). Our vacuum cleaner is nearing the end of its life, so I was hoping to find something with a little more power and a HEPA filter. As I was walking into to the housewares store, this new product was on demo. A window cleaning robot.
The Winbot doesn't look like much from this angle.
But from this side, you can see it in action. I was tickled at the possibility that technology had to borrow from nature for part of the design. The machine, when stationary, reminded me so much of an aquarium sucker fish. Even cooler, though, was that the Winbot was equipped with all kinds of sensors to judge the size of the windows and the path to clean them. I didn't buy one, though I thought about it. Our giant apartment windows only get cleaned on the inside as an occasional afterthought, if only because the outside of them never get cleaned.
The time of the Jetsons is now.
