Heat Watch: Snowy Sunday
Yesterday, Saturday afternoon, we came home from rained-out baseball to see this smokestack, the one closest to our building, puffing away like the little coal burner that could.
In the apartment, we touched the radiators, and they all felt a little warm. Not enough to heat a room, but they were definitely not ice cold.
Was the rumor about to be proven true? Would we wake up on November 4th to warmth?
We went to bed as the rain turned to snow. Would we be surprised with heat in the morning?

By morning, the snow had stopped but it was still very cold. Looking across to the hills and moutains in view, it was quite beautiful.
Looking down at the sidewalks and streets, though, the scene was much less breathtaking. The snow, ice, and slush meant staying home today, cancelling our usual Sunday morning of Mass and soccer.
And the heat? Unfortunately, the radiators show no change from yesterday.
Last year the time between feeling warmth in the pipes and full-blown heat was about a week. With the big drop in temperatures and the snow storm, I can hope this year won't take so long.
Yes, this is insignificant compared to what's going on in the rest of the world. That perspective definitely helps.
