You wouldn't vandalize or loot a Japanese-owned mall proudly flying the PRC flag above every entrance, would you?
People all across China found themselves living in interesting times this past week. Fortunately, for us out here in the sticks, things were as uneventful as usual. On Tuesday several dozen more Beijing City police were in town, though many appeared bored by the assignment away from the real action.
Friday afternoon the kids and I rode the metro to the Aeon Mall. We saw absolutely no sign of the kinds of trouble reported at other Juscos in China. This store was probably through Tuesday or Wednesday, but nothing at the mall looked out of order at all. Jusco was just as busy as usual.
This is one week when we really appreciated how uneventful life out here in Changping can be.
