Our sixth 圣枝主日/Palm Sunday in China

I have to keep counting it out on my fingers. It does not seem possible that we have observed six Palm Sundays and six Holy Weeks in China, does it? Oh, we have.

We began outside, with our branches, just as always.

We listened to the Gospel, in our case Mark 11:1-10 Some followed along in their own book, just like her brother used to do.

Our procession circled the Seminary grounds, ending at the closed church doors. Because we were at the very back, Myles had to stand on a low wall to watch Father knock on the door with the staff of the processional cross.

A little while later we heard Psalm 22. It's one of the few I've memorized in Chinese translation. In any language, it expresses our most desperate fear.

Wo de Tianzhu, wo de Tianzhu. Ni weihe sheqi wo?
我的天主, 我的天主. 你为何舍弃我?

So much like everywhere else.

Holy Week, here we come.
