Snowy Sunday

Is it just me or does it seem that often when we have any amount of snow in Beijing it falls on a Sunday? Maybe not always, but it seems I have quite a few pictures of our church and my kids at church playing in snow. Like last Sunday.





Of course, we also like to see the Great Wall in the snow, and after Mass last Sunday, that's where we headed.

Looking down the valley at a farming village under the Great Wall. I love how it looks as though I should describe it as "sleepy" with the light snow cover, but it wasn't. Even high above we could hear their roosters and the town's PA system making announcements a few times an hour.

One of my favorite Great Wall views, with just enough snow to hint at the structure under the overgrowth of brush.



Of course, the kids did not care about the Great Wall as much as they did the snow. They happily slid down a snow-covered hill in their backsides, completely ambivalent about the watch towers and wall behind them.



Great Wall? Heck, we can have that anytime we want. But snow, especially here in Beijing? That's special.
