Hand-me-downs

Last after her bath I dressed Brigid in a clean pair of Steelers pajamas that my niece Mia has recently outgrown. These pajama come with a history, Mia having received them from Myles (of whom I have pictures wearing them), Myles from Randy's grandson Collin, and Collin likely from my nephew Crispian. Crispian is now thirteen and would have worn these pajamas over ten years ago. This is likely the last stop for these pjs as the elastic is beginning to deteriorate from age and frequent washings.

I welcome hand-me-downs not only for the sake of saving money. I love the idea of sharing these favorite outfits, prolonging the fun, if you will. And Myles and Brigid are both happy to receive these cast-offs from people they love, sometimes pointing out the connections when we are back in China. When it comes to the Steelers clothes especially, Brigid is excited that it is now her turn to wear these pajamas, sweatshirts, and jerseys.

There will be a time that someone else's old clothes won't be as exciting for them. I'll take what I can get right now.
