Whew!!!
It was such a whirlwind trip across Europe! We were really fortunate to have this opportunity to accompany Randy on his business trip. Not knowing if we would have this chance again, we needed to seize it. It was a crazy schedule since it was dictated by his contact's calendars. There would have certainly been more efficient ways to cover this continent, but we landed in Frankfurt, then proceeded by rail to Euskirchen, Köln, Bordeaux, San Sebastian, Paris, Usti nad Labem, Prague, Dielsdorf, Trieste (and then Slovenia by car) and then back to Frankfurt. Along the way we saw from the train a lot of Belgium and some of Austria (twice).
I am still organizing thousands of pictures, as well as how to blog it all. In the meantime, here is a picture of St. Martin Church in Gaberje, Slovenia, the ancestral parish of my mother's mother's parents and ancestors. It was humbling to stand before such a representative of hundreds of years of family history. It wasn't the most famous, or the oldest, or the biggest, or the tallest, or the whatever-est church we saw in Europe. This was the most personal, most dear.
