Shows of Gratitude
One thing that struck me in many of the churches we visited in Europe was the gratitude shown for prayers believed answered. It looked different everywhere we went, but here are the most memorable. For those that were plaques with dates, they sometimes corresponded with a war-time event.
In Köln, it included jewelry.
This prompted Myles to ask me if I would throw my new cross earrings (replacements bought in the US for this one). I told him that if he or Brigid were really sick, and i prayed to God to save his life, he better believe I would rather have them than the earrings. This satisfied him.

In Prague, we saw the Infant of Prague, and some of the donated robes. We also saw this statue of St. Anthony at St. Nicholas. At first I thought it was also a show of gratitude
but upon closer inspection, I wasn't quite sure. Were these in thanksgiving or petitions?
