Paris gets off on the wrong foot with us
One hour and ten minutes, according to the ticket agent in Germany, would be more than enough time to change from Paris North to Paris Montparnasse on the Metro. It was only a few stops, after all.
One hour and ten minutes was barely enough time for us to make this change. It was, however, plenty of time to wait in line 30 minutes to buy our metro tickets from an automated machine, hop the metro for only a few stops, break a suitcase handle, have €150 stolen from a wallet (but the wallet returned!) and just get on the wrong half of the right train as it was pulling away from Montparnasse station.
This was on our way from Germany to Bordeaux. Fortunately at Poitiers we were able to change from the wrong half that was separating from our half of the train that was going to Bordeaux.
We knew we would be returning to Paris the next week, and already we were dreading the decision to stay an extra day there.
