Seriously what else can I possibly say? Wow. Wow. Wow.

Of the significant churches we would visit in Europe, Randy liked the experience of the Dom best. He said the crowd felt more reverent than those we would encounter at Bordeaux or Paris or Prague. I suspect that it was more likely they were quieted by awe.

In my head I composed a letter that started, "Dear Modern World, I hate you." I don't really, but for a while I considered what it meant to live in a world that wanted to destroy or at least deny such Beauty.

Outside of the Dom stands a small bit of Roman Ruins. Certainly part of it has been repaired, but there it is, something left by the Romans. Like other parents, I'm sure, I could not help but fear that something that survived almost 2000 years might not survive my kids.

But fortunately it did, and it was in the same condition when we left as when we arrived.
