Magical Childhood
A day at Idlewild in Ligonier is like a visit to another era, when children were encouraged to enjoy quieter, gentler entertainments than seem to be the usual fare today. The oversized scenes and characters from nursery rhymes and fairy tales, either familiar or forgotten, make Story Book Forest the kind of fantastical place every child dreams of visiting.
I am so happy my sister Kate and I were able to share this with Myles, Brigid, and Evangeline (Crispian was under the weather and couldn't go).
Nursery rhymes and storybooks are great for the imagination anyway, but a few props and scenes once in while are nice, too.
And they all lived together in a little crooked house.
Looking for signs of Goldilocks in the Three Bears' House
This one makes me think of Helena.
Very low-tech, bordering on cheesy, but a fantastic way to start the afternoon at Idlewild.
