Our turn

One benefit to waiting until the later part of the Spring Festival to buy fireworks is that the sellers are anxious to sell their inventory.  This evening after supper Myles and I approached a vender with 800 RMB  and an idea of what we wanted to buy, something big.

We described what we wanted as we paged through his catalog.  We found one that looked good, a box of 42 charges listed for 398 RMB. Could we have two of these, we asked.  He flipped to another page and asked if we liked the box of larger fireworks better, one of 72 charges for 898 RMB. I showed him that I had only brought 800 RMB with me, so he offered me a box of each for the low price of all the money I had in my hand. A week ago he probably would not have been so interested in such a discount, but tonight without my even asking he reduced prices on the spot.

The two boxes filled our trunk.

And here's the video. First the smaller of the two boxes.

And here's the larger of our two boxes.

Wow! That's amazing. The Chinese really do take their fireworks seriously, don't they?
