哈利波特
In the past month in Changping, not one, but two (!) movie theaters have opened for business. That brings the total number of movie theaters to....two! This is a very exciting development out here in the sticks.
We went this evening after dinner to see the movie, and by "we" I really do mean all of us. Without any available babysitter, we had to time movie viewing with a likely nap from Brigid. She did sleep through most of the movie, by the way. Myles spent a great deal of time with his eyes covered, either by my hand or voluntarily.

Our tickets for two adults and one child came to 70RMB, a little more than $10. We did not load up on concessions, because most of the snacks were unappealing to our Western palates. Popcorn in China is usually sweet, and we also decided to pass on the blueberry-flavored Lays potato chips. Going to the movies in Changping can certainly be a cheap entertainment.
The movie has been reviewed so many places, and I won't bore you with more of the same, except that in this movie I think Yates has redeemed himself as a director. I don't want to sound like a film snob, but my favorite movie of the series is Prisoner of Azkaban, directed by Alfonso Cuarón. There were still some painful shortcuts he took with the script (Hi, I'm Bill, and Fleur and I are getting married and never mind me; I just had a run-in with a werewolf), but on the whole it was enjoyable.

I remember hearing that somewhere in the Pacific Northwest served beer at their movie theater, and at 21, I thought that would be a little slice of paradise.
