Nothing gold can stay
A few weeks ago I was bowled over by a local grocery's recent renovations and new approach to the Changping market. The best part for us was their stocking most of an aisle with excellent imported beer.
Sunday afternoon I returned to this store, hoping to score some more Chimay. I should have known it was too good to last. Turning the corner, I was surprised once again. The imported beer is mostly gone. Rather than restocked with more beer, the shelves are now full of gift boxes of wine. There was no Chimay. No Boddington's. No Stella Artois. I found a few Lindeman's Framboise and brought them home.
If I try to look on the bright side, I can see that certainly there's a market for really good imported beer in Changping. I just hope that this translates into the store management's view as a reason to restock.
