Jackson Hole again

When we were at Guyaju last weekend, we also got to see again the vacation home development called Jackson Hole. I've blogged about it before.  We didn't go past the gate (as tempted as I am!), but we got a few pictures from outside. I toggle between this picture and one from last year and I think the number of houses has grown.

There are so many aspects of this that still fascinate me. The theme, of course, is a big one. Why "Jackson Hole?" Why "American West vacation homes?"

And please, tell me more about the freedom I'd feel as a seasonal resident of Jackson Hole.

I can see why this fascinates you... It's interesting that the theme is "freedom" (as represented by Wild West America). Deep down everyone wants to be a cowboy... :)

Jackson Hole, why yes that makes perfect sense in Ch*na to want to build vacation homes that epitomize the American West and freedom.(she says sarcastically) I am always amazed at the bizarre ideas that the Ch*nese sort of glom on to about American culture. Does anyone over there really understand "freedom?"

Certainly, the definition of freedom here is not the same as liberty. I think it has more to do with commercial freedom (ability to own a home! An unnecessary home at that!) and the freedom from urban pressures (traffic, noise, pollution). But yes, when I saw that on the stone my first reaction was wryly like yours.
