Shanghai Expo 2010: Pudong Side, Canada
Without a doubt the Canada Pavilion was the best that we saw. I've seen a few best-of lists from some of the journalists (like Adam), and Canada frequently ranks pretty high.
When we finally got into the Canadian Pavilion, we found it a total delight. The highlight (and worth the hype) was the second room. There were giant video screens showing scenes of contemporary Canada (including some of its Chinatowns), and some sort of water pool for people to touch, and exercise bikes in front of another set of video screens looping through an animation about best urban practices. My still pictures do not really do any of it justice, and my videos are not that great (on one you can hear me shout "I swear that was Sidney Crosby up there!!!!" and on another "That's NOT a pole dancer; that's Cirque du Soleil!"), so for a really great feel of the show, here's a video I found on Youtube and another on Vimeo. It's only part of the story I'm sure there was substance in there somewhere, but the media, rather than the message, was the star of the show. But it was an amazing show.
I do have a few pictures I would like to share, but really, the links above to other people's videos are better really to get a sense of the pavilion. The music, the images, the video, the lights---well, here's a few shots.

The other parts of the pavilion are also great, but this middle area gave me such a "How amazing is the human race?" feeling. It isn't often we get to feel such wonder, and the Canadians figured out a way to deliver that to their Expo audience.
