Lovely reflection on the Agave
Clare Krishan had this lovely reflection on the Agave plant in the comments section of this post at Mark Shea's blog. I have to share it here. Thank you Clare. I never saw it this way. I was thinking more carpe diembut this is so beautiful.
consider the humble Phipps' Agave - the horticulturists -- to enable its unexpected and vidorous growth -- opened a window to the heavens, and then when inclement weather the tip broke the exposed budding tip they valiant defenders of nature's glory SPLINTED it and it continued to wind its way vertically upward, and ...
bud
.. bloom
and flourish for miles around to see !!
Are not the sacraments the open window to the heavens? The ordained, the horticulturists? And the splint? That's the rest of us, supporting you with prayers in the Conservatory Mother Church who's temperate climate is a good place to nurture plantings [that could succumb if left outside exposed to the elements ] so that they may attain their full potential in good time, even if that is just once a century.
And recall that none of us, absolutely NONE, are flawless or immaculate. God reserved that once-in-eternity privilege to his Mother alone, she's the soaring Queen Agave reigning in full bloom above. Ask her to arrange your appetites into a pleasing bouquet for her Son and she's sure to oblige... Ave Maria gratia plena!
