Holy Thursday
After an early supper at home, we were on our way to Mass at the Beijing Diocesean Seminary. Traffic was light, so we we had time to stop at the Starbucks near(ish) the church for a little coffee to get me through the next several hours.
"You know," said Myles in between sips of his milk. "we didn't used to eat dinner at home on Holy Thursday. Why aren't we eating dinner at the church like we used to in Shenzhen?"
I was surprised at his memory. It's been two years since we last celebrated Holy Week in Shenzhen, but we did celebrate two consecutive Holy Thursdays at Nantou church, both preceded by Seder.
Alas, no Seder for us again this year, but we still had a beautiful Mass. At the close of Mass the Holy Eucharist was removed. Unlike last year we did not have a procession outside, just around the inside of the church.
And so went our Holy Thursday. For additional posts from previous Holy Thursdays in China that aren't already linked above go here, here, & here,
