By any means necessary

We've been drilling Myles on his addition and subtraction, using worksheets, math puzzles, and flashcards. One particularly frustrating day Myles was not remembering some of his math facts. I playfully and gently (I swear) started tapping Myles in the head with a flashcard.

"Eight plus seven equals fifteen," I smacked on each word. He'd repeat back similarly with the card hitting his forehead.

Predicitably, but still terribly cute, Brigid has wanted to get in on this. She brings me flashcards. If I don't get the hint she starts smacking herself in the forehead.

These kids will be wearing helmets by the time we get to multiplication.

This method of inparting skills to children is time-honored in our family. I remember learning to read with Big G! Aunt Susie
