My sister
So this week my sister has been profiled in our hometown newspaper for her successful balancing act of singing in the Pittsburgh Opera, working full-time for a DoD-related operation at CMU, and being wife and mother. They left out her little league coaching career as well, but there is only so much space on the front page of a small-town daily. It leaves me very George Bailey feeling, and if I were wearing a vest I would be popping buttons off of it with pride.
It's an interesting regular feature the newspaper does. This allows the folks back in Kane to read about the town's sons and daughters who have achieved a level of success in their professional lives. Most of the time, the subjects of these articles have moved out of Kane, and even out of Western Pennsylvania totally, to make their way in the world. It is a story played out in small towns across the US, but especially in the rust-belt.
