Mechanics of Eating
Brigid still isn't sure about the whole eating solid food thing. Some meals I am able to get food into her, and some meals don't quite go as well.
She seems to think there is an important element missing from eating this way.
For the first week or so, every attempt at solid food was met with her shoving her fingers desperately into her mouth, all the while glowering at me as if to say, "Don't you know that eating is supposed to feel like this?"
Slowly she has gotten more used to the feel and taste of the still-limited menu of baby cereals and plain vegetables. But she continues to suck her fingers in between bites. She will even pull her fingers out, open her mouth to accept the spoon, and then quickly shove her two fingers back into her mouth, sucking and swallowing.
