Right to bare arms...or, rather, feet

We have had some amazing weather in Beijing this week. It has been wonderfully warm and sunny the past few days. And unlike Shenzhen, the humidity here is not yet very high, so we have really been able to enjoy being outside.

In our walks about town here I am still getting grief for those times Brigid has been without socks, even on these warm afternoons. It's amusing to me, though, that while it is worth a lot of comment and criticism that my six-month-old is in bare feet, every other infant and toddler we encounter is in split open pants, and have been regardless of how warm or cold it has been.

I need to remember to keep socks packed in my diaper bag in case I forget to put some on her when we leave the house. It would save me a lot of aggravation not to have to hear a few dozen times a day about how awful it is for her to be without wa zi.
