Random Mass notes

Last Sunday, as in not yesterday, there was another foreigner, a twenty-ish white guy, at our Mass. I didn't notice him at first, as we were back to our usual seat in the last pew, but during the Credo I caught a glimpse of a small video camera. He was taking some video of the singing of the Creed. Heh. I thought to myself. Do all foreigners come to Chinese Mass with cameras in hand? Of course, that often makes me guilty as charged. When I still lived in Shenzhen, everyone, Chinese or foreign, would take pictures and videos during any Mass. I was a lot less self-conscious there of taking pictures.

Now that we have had three Masses since Easter, I think I can safely say the hand-holding was priest-related. The same priest we had for Easter Sunday we have had again, and he asks that we join hands for the Our Father. The other priests I've encountered thus far at the seminary don't. I wonder if this particular priest has been to Shenzhen, either for a short-term or a long-term assignment, because this is very common in Shenzhen. I've mentioned before that the Shenzhen parish priests come out of Beijing.

Myles has been invited to Sunday school, but he politely declined. Or rather, he informed the seminarian that, sorry, but his Chinese wasn't good enough. I think he'll use any excuse not to leave my side.

Everyone wants to hold Brigid. No surprise there.
