Myles is constantly making plans. Sometimes he's talking about things he wants to do when we "go back to American for a visit," like camping. Sometimes it's about "when we go back to America and not just for a visit," like the house we'll have and the car. Very often it is about what he wants to do when he grows up. The age at which he will marry (21), the number of kids he wants to have (17), and all the careers he will have businesses he wants to start (my favorite is the candy company called Juicy Drop-Off).
One such business idea that has truly made him lose sleep is his weapons factory. One night, at close to midnight, I tweeted that Myles was still awake. I asked him why, and he said he was thinking about the weapons systems he wants to design when he is a grown-up. Since then he has worked on some of his plans for these weapons systems.
It seems that, to Myles, modern weapons are missing some key classical elements. For instance, who wouldn't want to go to war in an armored all-terrain chariot?
And how on earth does our modern army think they can win without a trebuchet?
Myles has also begun to design our factory. Yes, "our" because he wants this to be a family business. My office is at the top floor, the biggest office, he tells me. In addition to his own office on a lower floor, he will also have a playroom in the basement.
