Location of Starbucks merely a coincidence
Sunday afternoon after we returned from Mass and a stop at a Starbucks we decided to make a visit to the Great Wall at Badaling. Living where we do, this far north of the main part of Beijing, we can take impulse trips to the Great Wall at several locations that are considered out-of-the-way for many Beijing residents. Sunday we went to Badaling, the most famous and popular tourist point on the Great Wall. Less than 25 km from our apartment, it is also is the location of one of the closer Starbucks to us. Not that Starbucks is a reason to go to one of the most amazing works of human hands in all of the history of world civilization, but it doesn't hurt.

I don't think that we will tire of going to the Great Wall as long as we live here. Every season will bring a different look to it. And it really captures Myles' imagination. Sunday he was battling invading Orcs and Mongols, formidable foes certainly.
As long as Myles remains this enthusiastic about going to the Great Wall, I certainly will need no further motivation to go up there anytime, Starbucks or no.
