Houhai Boulevard scenes

I have frequently described my neighborhood as a fairly upscale Chinese neighborhood. It isn't the richest of the Shenzhen rich that make up my neighbors, but these people have a lot more money than most of their countrymen. Monday afternoon I snapped a few pictures within a few minutes of each other that really illustrate this.

On the big boulevard, across from the main entrance from our garden, are a block of shops that all seem to have a similar target audience--my affluent neighbors. One after another are pet supply and accessory shops (complete with sparkly dog collars and puppy coats), beauty spas, and weightloss centers.


I crossed the street, and this Ferrari was being washed and detailed.

Yeah, it looks as though it is in more need of a body shop than a washing, but I would bet that not too many body shops in Shenzhen stock spare anythings for Ferraris.
