We celebrated Chinese New Year's Day once again this year with Mass. i had trouble initially getting Myles out of bed, but I reminded him that this was the day Father would give him a Hong Bao after Mass. He's never dressed that quickly :-)
You know at the close of Mass when the priest or deacon says "The Mass has ended; go in peace"? Totally does NOT apply to Chinese New Year's Day Mass. After the individual blessings and distribution of Hong Bao and oranges, someone or some people set off a few rolls of deafening and smoky firecrackers. The aftermath:
