'Way up north in Beijing, Randy's company is hosting some American guests. They will be staying through the weekend, and were worried about watching the NFC and AFC championship games.
On Friday, Randy asked me to find somewhere in Beijing that would have the games on tv. It didn't take long for me to find "The Goose and Duck," and call them to confirm that they would be showing the NFL games on Monday morning. They guarenteed, so Randy's guests will soon be happily watching live NFL
All weekend since, though, I have not had any such luck getting myself in front of a tv by kick-off. Any bar in Shekou that advertises "NFL" as part of its sports programming either already knows they don't have the ability to show anything but the Super Bowl, or isn't sure if they will be getting today's games. At this point, twenty minutes after kick-off for the For-the-Birds Bowl, I think I might be able to call the one that still wasn't sure if they were getting the games or not.
Otherwise, it will be another Monday early morning I am glued to the radio feed over the internet. Man, I wish I had a Slingbox right now.
Update 4:45: Apparently, NFL.com thinks I am in the US. I am trying to buy access to live streaming video that is available for International Customers. I keep getting this :
How is it obvious to every other website, like Amazon.com and NBC.com that I am outside of the US and therefore not able to access downloads for pay or free episodes of 30 Rock, but the NFL thinks I am in the US. ARGH. When I tell people that there is crying in football, this is NOT what I meant.
