Dapeng Fortress
I'm not sure how much of the existing fortress dates back to its 1394 founding, but this Hakka village is pretty darn old. The Dapeng fortress saw attacks from the Portuguese, the British (to start the Opium Wars), and even the Japanese. Here are some random pictures from our January 1 trip to Dapeng.

Many of the houses had these amazing decoration on the exteriors. Some were of obvious Chinese origin, and others appeared to come from outside inspiration.
