What's in a(n Orthodox) name
It seems our baby may share her birthday with another Pittsburgher of note. Theodora Polamalu, wife of some guy named Troy, is also due any day now with a son.
I was exchanging emails with my sister Megs about this, and I told her that in case of repeatedly misread ultrasounds, I've been joking that my boy's name in reserve is Troy after the future great Orthodox Christian saint. Can you imagine how cool his icon would be?
I also joked with Megs that the Polamalu to be named later would probably be given some sort of hard-core Orthodox name, like Polycarp or Athanasius. It appears I wasn't too far off. According to the Beaver County paper, their son will be named Paisios. I'm guessing in honor of Elder Paisios?
Update Nov 2, 6:00 pm: I just read in the P-G that the little Polamalu was born Friday.
