The list grows

While the taste of soy milk in my Starbucks is growing on me, the list of Chinese products that are likely tainted with melamine is growing. I received the same text message from two different people last night within minutes that listed, among other things, all Chinese-made "M&M's, Snickers, Mento's, Yoghurt in bottles, Dove Chocolates, Oreos" and about a half-dozen Chinese brands of ice cream. Note to friends and family outside of China, that this list is only for Chinese-produced products, not your M&M's. However, White Rabbit chewy candies, that I have seen in Asian-import grocery stores, have been recalled in some countries outside of China.
One interesting job market that is exploding in China and Hong Kong in response to this milk crisis is the market for wet nurses. Yes, they still exist, as I blogged about back in 2006. These days they are much in demand, with monthly pay skyrocketing up to CNY18,000 (US$2640) per month, and Shezhen domestic help agencies fielding up to 100 calls a day!
