Fishing for crayfish in a creek. Or, as we say in Western Pennsylvania, crick.

Yikes - that's a lot of crayfish! I used to find them in little "cricks" outside of Pgh. when I was little. I've tried taking my son our here in south central PA and turning over rocks - and nothing! What's your secret?

Here in VIrginia they're pronounced "crawwdads". :)

Well, the Western Pennsylvanian cousins fished for crayfish in the crick, while the West Virginian cousins were catching the crawdads in the creek. Myles used all words and pronunciations.
He's so great at keeping up with any bilingual environment.

Carolyn-i asked my husband why he thinks there were a great number of crayfish. We were inside a picnic park, so the predators are fewer. Raccoons can feast on leftover garbage, and a lot fewer trout to eat the young ones.

Sound reasoning. We'll have to keep hunting! My son - just slightly older than your Myles - pretends he is hosting "Crayfish Hunters."
