On the bag

The shopping bags we received at Mass last week quote Matthew 11:28. The first three characters are Ye Su shuo, or "Jesus said," and the rest is the Mandarin for this beautiful statement:

Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.

Hi,

Once again, thanks for sharing your life in China with this lurker.

I was wondering if you could put up a picture of the character for 'Jesus' and if anyone out there knows how that character was devised, developed?

Thanks! It would be a fun thing to throw into lessons with kids. (Always looking for those 'commercial breaks'!)

I'll get something up when i can, but you can type "Jesus" into this dictionary (make sure you choose English) and you will see it. Also be sure to check mark the box that the characters will be displayed as GIF in case you don't have Chinese characters installed on your computer.
