Waiting

Right now, I think, my youngest sister is in labor on the other side of the world. Since my day is her night, I wasn't expecting any updates from anyone. However, that makes for a really long, anxious day for someone waiting for some news.
So to help pass the time I took Myles to his first commercial screen test. I wasn't sure about it at first, though now I would be surprised to hear that he got the part. This director is planning a "save the environment" PSA that will have a white boy playing with a dog on the beach. Myles was the youngest of the boys brought in to test, and two of the others were these brothers who have been on local tv here before on some family show. They are part of this beautiful family that has been described to me as "famous," though I'm not sure if they are really famous-like-on-tv or just famous-everyone-has-heard-of-them. They are from Spain, but the whole family (mom, dad, and four kids) speaks Chinese fluently and effortlessly. Those two boys have one amazing advantage over Myles, white kids who will not need a translator. They don't want the child to speak in the commercial. As Myles' agent said, "That would make the commercial too funny to have the foreigner speak Chinese. It just doesn't look right." Tell me about it.
So now that is over, and I am back to waiting. And so my family knows, even though my night is your day, you can text me the news I've been waiting for.
