Brrrrrrr

While the Shanghai bloggers are wondering at the beauty of a rare snowfall, I, too, have seen something I never thought I would see in my part of China. MY BREATH. Yesterday the temperature dipped low enough here in Shenzhen for visible breathing. I first saw it after Mass, and then again in the evening.

Last night was Randy's company's annual Spring Festival Dinner party. Due to growth and recent acquisitions, the number of employees are now in the many hundreds, so the search for a location to host this event in that area of Shenzhen was difficult. What they found normally wouldn't be a problem, except for this cold snap that has resulted in breath-sightings. According to weather.com it did not rise above 50 degrees F yesterday, when normally it is 15 degrees warmer. It was basically a pavilion, a giant, open, unheated pavilion. We did not know that the dinner was going to be OUTSIDE until we got there. Otherwise we would have packed blankets.
I'll have pictures and maybe video up. This dinner also featured entertainment. Many employees sing or perform choreographed numbers. In previous years, Randy tells me, the performances featured more ethnic and cultural routines. This year a new program director was assigned and the performances were more, ummm, contemporary. And by contemporary I really mean more like MTV ten years ago. Pictures later.
