Pajama Party!
For Myles birthday, Friday night we hosted another Pajama Party storytime at our house. We really miss the regular storytimes at the Carnegie Library (which included a once-a-month Pajama Party), so these parties allow us to share with our friends here something really special we love about Pittsburgh.
Our program followed a typical Carnegie Library Storytime:
1) Song : "The more we get together" with the second verse of "The more we read together."
2) Book: Kipper's Birthday
3) Finger play: "Two little blackbirds..." See the video. This is always a lot of fun, especially with babies, like Xiao Long who is only a year old. You can hear him screaming at the appropriate times.
4) Book: Don't let the Pigeon Stay Up Late
5) Rhyme + participation: "Hickory Dickory Dare, the pig flew in the air. The man in brown had to bring her down. Hickory Dickory Dare." Always popular because each kid gets to take turns throwing a toy pig in the air.
6) Poem: "The Moon" by Robert Louis Stevenson
7) Book: Goodnight Moon
These parties are just so easy to plan (except for such things that keep me up late the night before such as baking cakes for the first time in my life) that anyone can do it. Even me. Even me in China.
Comments
Ah, so the answer is "yes, I can post video clips on my blog."
Please, more!
