Today's new word


Sheng mu sheng tian jie The Assumption of Mary, literally Holy Mother flies up in the sky.
It's a Holy Day of Obligation here, too. After Mass we sang some additional Marian hymns in front of the Grotto and closed with a brief litany to the Blessed Virgin.

Chuckle! When I first began to learn German working for a multinational there, I had similar visions of comic book heroics: I used my dictionary phrasebook to convert "Christi Himmelfahrt" (Ascension) to Jesus Sky Rider!!! Seriously tho' don't you enjoy the new perspective on the eternal truths a different tongue offers? Enjoy!
