New favorite

This is my current favorite Myles painting. I don't know if it is the colors, or the cool name, "Night in America," or his method. The other morning he was playing with a synthetic wine cork we had given him the night before, thinking he would use it as a load for one of his trucks. He was examining it in his hands. Then he asked me, excitedly, "Can I paint with this?"

For this occasion I whipped out the real acrylics for him.

Of course he experimented with the various ways a cork could be used, first the obvious circles, then the square-edge, and then in another painting, he applied paint to the cork and rolled a few repeating patterns. That painting in the picture below eventually became "Fireworks over Pittsburgh."

This was a day I was glad we haven't put him in school yet (normal at age 2 among foreigners here). He wouldn't have been playing with a wine cork (uh.....) and definitely wouldn't have been allowed to paint when inspiration struck him.
