The Opposite of Christmas

The great thing about reading stories in the Post-Gazette about the one-year anniversary of the Womenpriests-on-the-Mon story, I mean other than the fact that this year the paper gave some space to the Diocese to explain the theological reasons behind the prohibition of women from the priesthood, though it is hard to find on the P-G website, is that I am reminded why I was so vigilant in following all the breaking news in Pittsburgh that same day. I really didn't care what kind of party was floating on a Gateway Clipper that day. That same day was the Major League Baseball trade deadline.
So here we are, that cursed July 31, and again we are wondering which Pirate will look good and perform better in a Tigers uniform. By tomorrow morning David Littlefield will be bragging about how much money he will save the Pirates organization. Which of course has sooooo much meaning to baseball fans who might be interested in otherwise lining the Nutting family pockets with ticket revenue and merchandising revenue.
