I really know absolutely nothing about Chinese Catholicism compared to Adam Minter. He has opened my eyes to what lies behind, historically and currently, what I've observed and narrowly experienced.
I really can't recommend enough his profile of Bishop Jin in the current Atlantic Monthly. Really. Buy it, get to the library, read it for free at Borders....whatever.
In the teaser interview available online, Minter alludes to having an excess of material available from his research. It seems he is going to put some of it on his blog, Shanghai Scrap. While I am waiting anxiously for more details about the Bishop who was hiding out with acrobats (I mean, doesn't that sound like a great short story idea, the Bishop who joined the circus), he has so much other great things to share. For instance, he has this post about access to Bibles in China, one of the best-selling books in China.
