Through tears still something to smile about
A lot of people ask how Myles has been handling the events of the past few months. He understands quite a bit, more than we ever expected, but still very much on his level.
There have been times since our return to China when I have been peppered with questions about our baby that have been difficult for me to interrupt. Myles will then yell at them, much to defend me from my own sad news, "Don't you know anything? My sister is dead!"
And then other times he'll say very seriously, "Our baby died," and then he will add with a little bit of wonder, "and now my mommy's tummy is all squishy."

Leaving the hospital after our second miscarriage, when we had told him that the baby didn't grow as it was supposed to, he said we should have just planted a tree. Logical, since we often talk about trees and plants growing, but painful to hear at that time.
