Today

We met in the frozen cemetary at 10 am this morning. I'm not quite sure how cold it was out there, but on our way back into town the thermometer on the bank read 3 degrees.
The Buddhist monk told the people from Randy's plant that I should be avoiding feeling cold. This cold is certainly beyond any cold they could imagine in that part of China. It is nothing compared with the metaphorical cold around us.
I looked over at the book from which Father read our prayers and noticed that some of the prayers are specific for stillborn babies. I was amazed that this was beyond our imagination and not beyond the imagination of some liturgical body somewhere in Rome at one time.
Stillborn. What a loaded word. The birth of a silent baby. That baby that won't be but was still born.
I am still amazed at the prayers and emails from you. Thank you thank you. As I was emailing someone this evening, the suport we have felt especially from those whose families who have also buried a baby or a young child has been especially encouraging, with the emphasis on COURAGE.

Dear Jen,
When one of my younger brothers died, it took over 6 months of going through the motions every day just to get through them - and he was 29 and not my child. I felt like there was a hole in my heart. The point is please don't be so hard on yourself. It's hard to lose your child; take whatever time you need to get the grief out. You have all that love in your heart that will carry you through and never go away. Perhaps that soul knew it wasn't the right time for her coming to this earth. She loves you and Randy and Myles and is probably still with you but on the other side of the veil past which we cannot see. Much love.
