Funeral

We are having the funeral for Maeve tomorrow at 11 am at St. Callistus Church, the parish where I grew up and Myles was baptised.
Thank you to the thousands of you that have visited my blog via Open Book, Danielle Bean, Testosterhome, A Soldier and His Wife, Mum 2 Twelve and Happy Catholic. Wow. We really appreciate your kind thoughts and prayers.
It's odd, when you think of it, that when you volunteer for the mission to be a parent, all you can think about are the chubby toes and the drooly kisses. You know, the rewards that get you through the messiness of the early years. You rarely consider that when you sign up for this, you are also accepting that things like this can happen. By bringing new life into the world, with all its hopes and possibilities, you are also bringing that new life into a world where death isn't a possibility. It is the only definite.
Last night I was re-reading Fr. Groeshel's remarks at the funeral for the son of Regina Doman (Angels in the Waters) particularly his closing, "in the coming days you will ask yourself why. But you must instead ask what. What does God want you to do? And that should keep both of you busy."
I just hope Randy and I have the patience with each other in the coming months to pursue that "what."

Please know that you have been and will continue to be in the thoughts and prayers of so many. I will be praying especially for you tomorrow at 11 AM.

May God, the source of all mercy, give you peace and perseverance in these days.

May God give you all the grace and strength to get through this. We've lost two to miscarriage in the last six months, and I miss my babies every day and long to see them in heaven. It's so hard to remember that they really are God's little ones, not ours. We're given the great blessing of co-creating, but as you wrote so beautifully, the larger picture is really that we're doing God's will - whatever that may entail - and that's the really hard part. You're in my prayers.

I lurk on your blog and appreciate the generous spirit with which you share your life and impressions. It is a joy to read.

I am so, so sorry to hear of your loss. I know that it is sad, but survivable. It is just hard to bear.

You have been in my prayers since I heard and will continue to be. I pray especially that God grants you peace and hope.

We are praying here as well. I was stunned when I read of your loss, but didn't realize you had an open book to leave a message sharing our concern for you and prayers for your family. I love the picture you've posted today, treasure it always!
