Betye Saar on NPR!

Yea!! There was a nice profile and interview of Betye Saar on NPR this morning. I just love hearing the part where they are rumaging through her boxes and drawers of "found objects." One thing that was missing from the NPR website and the interview was that they mentioned that she had two retrospectives touring the country, but they provided no further information beyond that. Her gallerist in LA does have them listed. One of the two, Family Legacies: The Art of Betye, Lezley, and Alison Saar, I am particularly excited about because I might actually get to see it, possibly at the opening at the Palmer at Penn State. That is, if I haven't gone into labor or anything yet.
When last we saw any of the Saars was when we were in Harlem in September. Myles had renamed one of Lezley's paintings "Mary Magdalene." I can't wait to see what he calls some of Betye's most famous work, like The Liberation of Aunt Jemima.
